{Update}

Wow, as usual, the time gets away from me and here we are almost 3 months later and I'm finally updating my blog again.  I have big dreams of blogging my life and doing creative projects everyday or at least once a week, but the reality is that I'm a mom of three kids, pastor's wife to a church planter, and almost full time music teacher.  Right now, that dream of "full-time" blogging (or even "more often" blogging) is something I've had to set aside in favor of reality and enjoying the life I'm currently living.

So, I'm sure you are curious what's been happening in the land of Meek...  Well, if you are a facebook friend, or a twitter follower, or an Instagram follower, you'll know that there is never much down time around here.  Jon and I have been busily training for our first Bloomsday run, which is coming up in just a few short weeks.  The kids and I are on Spring Break right now, which has been relaxing and fun.  We spent the first part of the week back in Missoula for some much needed family time and to celebrate Gabe's Eagle Court of Honor.  It was such a good time to celebrate his amazing accomplishments and to see friends and family.  It was also a great time of eating at many fine Missoula establishments that we love and miss now that we are in Spokane.

The past 3ish months have been busy for sure.  Since my last post, Jon has joined me at the ripe old age of 36, Micci hit the double digits (10!!), and Gabe is now halfway to 30 (insert evil laugh).  Our small but growing church has moved out of my living room to a coffeshopish location right in the heart of downtown Spokane.  This means a little more work (I can't go to church in my pajamas anymore, not that I ever really did...) but overall, it has been really good.

Gabe has started track season, Micci had several Irish dance performances in March, and Bethany has been working a ton on the yearbook committee.  She will also start track when we return from break.  I'm gearing up for my first ever Spring Music Program, and we are in process of trying to buy a house.  We have an accepted offer and now we are playing the waiting game until we close the deal.  We will have some work to do to make it how we really want it, but that's ok with us!  I'm super excited about it...

In short, there's been a lot going on, and there's never a dull moment!  Life is short, so we try to enjoy every moment that we can, and I don't feel TOO guilty if I forget to blog it, because I figure it's more important to live it than to blog it.

More soon...(ish)

{Homecoming}

It was so much fun to travel back to Missoula this last weekend to see family and friends.  While we were there, we ate at many of our favorite Missoula haunts, including the fabulous Double Front Cafe, home of the best fried chicken in the world (after my mother-in-law's, of course), and China Garden, where they make the best egg rolls I've had.

We had a super busy whirlwind trip.  The kids got to spend time with friends.  We went to a parade, a baby shower and a wedding.  We had good meals and better conversation.  We answered the questions about Spokane and work and the church plant and how the kids are adjusting many, many times.  So many times, in fact, that I'm not sure how sincere I sounded by Sunday morning.

(We love Spokane.  Work is going great, but has it's challenges.  The church plant is going very well; we have a core group of about 20 right now, but expect about 30 this coming Sunday.  Slow and steady.  The kids are doing great, involved in activities and making friends.  So things are very good.  Truly.)

Just in case you talked to me on Sunday and didn't quite believe me.  ;-)

The Homecoming game was a bit disappointing.  For starters, I didn't get to see it.  Secondly, we lost.  That always puts a damper on things.

Sunday came all too quickly, and after such a crazy weekend, I felt like I needed an extra day to recoup.  It was good to come back to Spokane, which doesn't *quite* feel like home yet.  All of our material things are here, which helps it to feel like home.  But maybe that's the way it should be...

"All I know is I'm not home yet
This is not where I belong
Take this world and give me Jesus
This is not where I belong"

Helps me to keep it in perspective.

So if I didn't get to see you or hug you (Kylie) or chat with you this weekend, know that I still love all my Missoula peeps.  And my new Spokane friends, you were all missed while I was gone.
Ok, more blog posts to write...  one menu plan coming up!!

Come rain or come shine

It seems that everyone is having crazy weather this year.  For Missoulians, the big catch phrase has been "Flood Watch."  Between rain and snowpack melting and then more rain (which leads to more snow in the mountains) and then 80 degree days which leads to more run off....the Clark Fork is at just about the highest I've ever seen it.  We've been driving down to a local bridge to keep up on the situation.  Here are some pictures:

Notice the line of wire cages and rocks here.  It's important for later.

Notice the distance between the water and the bridge.  Again, important.

These pictures were taken on 5/17/11.  The river was very high and running fast.  The next pictures are from today.  It is crazy.
Distance between water and bridge.

Note where the wire cages are now.

Crazy stuff.  We have a couple of streets that have flooded in town, and people are pitching in to help sandbag.  I'll leave you tonight with a pic of how someone is making the best of an interesting situation...and something I never thought I'd see in Missoula, Montana!

aahhhh...summer!

We (the kids and I) spent a wonderfully relaxing afternoon playing at a local pond. I didn't take the camera, so I have no pics to share, but we played in the water, we laid in the sun, we snacked on Cheez-its and Oreos. Summer bliss.

We are headed into a busy weekend, with Bethany's birthday coming up, and then Jon and my anniversary, but it should be fun. My Dad is taking the kids camping starting Monday for a few days, so Jon and I will have free babysitting for our date night for our anniversary!! (Woohoo!!)

Things have been a little hectic around here lately, even though it's summer, with Gabe camping with the Scouts, Jon taking on more responsibility at the church, me with applications and interviews (I had one this morning!!) and painting the kitchen cabinets (ugh), and the girls with playdates, so it was especially nice today to spend the entire afternoon sitting in the sun, enjoying a good book and good friends, and remembering why we live where we live.
